This is weird…
I have a piano lesson tomorrow.
And I’m excited!
I say “weird” because when I was a kid I hated piano.
My parents made me take lessons.
They were boring.
The teacher was boring.
The music was boring.
Everything was boring!
So as soon as I could, I quit.
Now, things have changed; I’ve changed.
I like learning.
I like challenges.
And frankly, I need a hobby.
Buy why now? Why this week?
After all, I’ve had a piano in my apartment for a year and a half.
And I have been practicing alone.
So why get a teacher now?
WE ALL NEED TEACHERS
Now I admit, I don’t want to do it alone.
I want someone to push me, to encourage me, to guide me.
I want accountability so I’ll practice more.
I want motivation so I’ll enjoy it more.
And I want commitment so I won’t quit or take breaks.
When I was riding my motorcycle through the mountains in Thailand, waiting in line to get my visa stamped in Kuwait, and walking on the beach in Vietnam, I had a lot of time to think.
I thought about how I wanted to make my life better when I returned to Prague.
This is one of the decisions I made: Get more teachers.
Alone is the hard way.
Do you get extra points for learning the hard way?
No, you do not.
THREE WAYS YOU CAN GET A TEACHER
1) Meet a native speaker online for private lessons
1-1 lessons are great. You get 100% of the teacher’s attention. And you focus on exactly what you need.
Here’s my website for finding a friendly native speaker teacher:

2) Let me be your teacher

Hi, Mr. Vig,
I feel the same way about the piano. As a child, I skipped lessons, and now I realize my mistake. I admire people who can play, and I regret it. I am 69 years old.
Hi Ryan, thank you for today´s Atomic homework.
It remind me one situation.
Aproximately two years ago I asked one teacher to have the private lessons with him.
He was busy. Very polite, but busy.
What he did teach me?
Learn with teachers who are interested.
Cross fingers for teacher who will push you, will encourage you, will guide you.
Teacher like this is actually a great friend.
P.S. Weird, frankly, hobby, accountability. (thinking smiley)
