This is a first!
I’m writing this Atomic Homework from the backseat of a car.
I’m on my way to a Vig Village meetup.
A few times a year, we pick a city and meet for a weekend of fun and English.
And because I’m someone who tends to leave things to the last minute, the bus tickets were sold out.
So here I am in the backseat of a Bolt paying about ten times more than a bus ticket.
But at least I get to get some work done.
Which I really need to do since it is, as usual, the last minute!
NOT MY FAVORITE IDIOM
“You can’t teach an old dog new tricks.”
Ever heard that one before?
That’s an idiom I don’t like.
Because the belief that adults can’t learn new things stops a lot of us from learning, from changing, from improving our lives, and from having fun.
Yes, learning is fun! (if done correctly)
I was thinking about this today because I had my first piano lesson.
It was a trial lesson and I had a lot of questions for her.
One question I asked was if she taught adults as well as kids.
She told me she did.
Then she said something that surprised me; she said that her adult students learn faster than her child students.
Interesting!
One reason is motivation; adults have more of it.
Another is intelligence; adults are smarter than kids and can understand and solve problems faster.
Makes total sense.
I’m looking forward to being a student again – What fun!
Have a great weekend,
Mr. Vig
THREE WAYS YOU CAN BE A STUDENT AGAIN
1) Meet a native speaker online for private lessons
1-1 lessons are great. You get 100% of the teacher’s attention. And you focus on exactly what you need.
Here’s my website for finding a friendly native speaker teacher:

2) Let me be your teacher

Thanks, Mr. Vig, for being a devoted and accountable Teacher!
The idiom “You can’t teach an old dog new tricks.” conveys a wrong belief – it’s never too late to study new things and to improve if a person aims that. Makes total sense.
Enjoy your piano lesson !!! I just begins Japan ich
