A reader writes: “Tell me if there is some trick to defeat the ‘later’ syndrome!”
My favorite trick: Throw your hat over the fence.
What does this mean?
Well, there are two ways to climb a fence.
The first, you put one foot on the fence, then the other…
The second, you throw your hat over to the other side.
Now you’ve got the motivation; getting over will be easier.
What does this look like for English?
You could…
Pay for a course in advance.
Pay for lessons in advance.
Or, join a group and RSVP to the meetings.
That’s throwing your hat over the fence.
