“Venice is like eating an entire box of chocolate liqueurs in one go.”
-Truman Capote

“Buongiorno.”
I exited my hotel room at the crack of 11:15.
Giovani, the proprietor, greeted me at the reception desk.
“Come sta?“ he asked.
I only know as much Italian as you can learn from Duolingo after seven days.
But I understood this.
After thinking for a moment, I thought I would try a word that sounded Italian.
“Bueno?”
“That’s Spanish,” said Giovani. “In Italian, we say ’Bene.’”
“Bene,” I repeated, so I could remember it.
“What are your plans for today?” Giovani asked.
“Get lost,” was my reply.
“The perfect way to see a new city,” agreed Giovani.
Cheers,
Mr. Vig
P.S.
