This week we’re talking about questions.
Specifically, questions you don’t know how to answer.
Here’s a category I call…
THE OBVIOUS
“Done so soon?”
“Back already?”
“Leaving so early?”
The answer to each of these questions is “Of course.”
“Of course” because the other person can clearly see that you are done / back / leaving.
So why ask the question in the first place?
READ BETWEEN THE LINES
People communicate with more than just words.
When someone asks an obvious question, you’ll have to pay careful attention to detect what they’re really saying.
Is his voice genuine or sarcastic?
Is her body language open or closed?
Are his eyes calm or nervous?
Pay attention to more than just the words you hear and you may discover:
- Maybe she doesn’t want you back so early.
- Perhaps he wanted you to leave an hour ago.
- Maybe he expected you to finish yesterday.
In other words, you’ve got to read between the lines.
And then you’ll know how to answer the obvious question.
Have a great weekend,
Mr. Vig

I think that person just wants to chat, without any ulterior motives.
