You take a sip.
You have a bite.
You must have done something wrong.
Because now you’re coughing.
Invariably, when this happens, someone will ask, “Are you all right?”
QUESTIONS
This week, we’re talking about questions – still!
Specifically, questions that are tough to answer.
The more I think about this topic, the more difficult, strange, and frankly, stupid questions I can think of.
Here’s one of my least favorite…
YOU ALL RIGHT?
People ask this when you start coughing and can’t stop.
Or, they ask it when you fall down and hurt yourself.
I guess they ask this because they feel uncomfortable and want to make the situation better.
But when you’re coughing, it’s hard to talk!
And when you’re in pain, you don’t want to talk!
So my advice is, when someone coughs or falls, it’s better if you stare, laugh, check your phone or simply run away.
Anything is better than asking, “Are you all right?”
Cheers,
Mr. Vig

Hi, maybe intensions are not so bad, it’s just another way to ask someone if he or she needs a help.
And how about when you hear U’re alright, when you meet British people, and they just want to say ‘hello’ .. 🙂
Hi, maybe better to ask: do you need help? But it’s important to pay attention, don’t turn around and run pls 🙂
Asking “are you okay (alright)?” is a polite question, and it’s also meant to alert someone, not to scare them, and to clarify our intentions. We should be concerned if something is wrong with someone, and be helpful, not run away. 😱 It could happen that a coughing person chokes to death, or someone falls because they’re having a heart attack. In my opinion, this is a very important question and could save someone’s life.❤️
Exactly !
Noooo… To me the question “are you allrigt” means also – “do you need help?..can I help you somehow? ” – I definitely wouldn’t check my phone, run away or – god forbid laugh… Never !
