When I was a kid, you tipped 15% at a restaurant.
At a bar, you left one dollar every time you got a drink.
I could handle that.
But now, things have gotten…
OUT OF CONTROL
You are now expected to tip 20% at a restaurant.
And that’s for starters!
The card reader will also give you the option of tipping 25%, 30%, or 35%!
In addition to this tipflation (can you guess what that means?), we now are asked to tip even when there’s no service.
For example…
You might walk into a convenience store, pour yourself a coffee in a to-go cup, tap your card, and the machine asks you if you want to leave a 15% tip… a 20% tip….
And you never even saw a human being!
Personally, I think this is getting out of control.
Many people in the U.S. are no longer able to afford to eat out, and as a result, many restaurants are closing.
Could part of this be due to the outrageous tipping culture?
I prefer a simple 10% tip for service.
Or better — no tip!
