A reader asks:
I still have a problem choosing between TO and AT… and it bugs me.
Well, that’s not really a question, is it?
But I’m going to answer it anyway….
TO VS AT
Hmm…
What do you think I’m going to do now?
Give you a bunch of rules?
Tell you about time and location and vehicles and infinitives?
And then tell you about all the exceptions?
I could do that.
But then the Teaching Police might knock on my door at 3 AM.
Because that’s not really teaching.
That’s just dumping information on you.
So what is teaching?
And what is learning?
I say, it’s behavior change.
If I teach…
And if you learn…
And you start thinking, doing, behaving or speaking differently…
Then we’ve both succeeded.
Make sense?
Ok, so how do I teach you the difference between to and at so it stops bugging you?
Tune in tomorrow…
Cheers,
Mr. Vig
P.S.
The Atomic Word of the Day is “bunch.”
What does it mean? And when do you use “a bunch of” and “a couple of”?
Let’s talk about that in today’s Atomic Homework audio lesson.
