Good news in America!
Our leaders, (now our masters), tell us they may soon allow us to leave our homes!
We may return to work (if our job still exists).
We may return to the stores (if they haven’t gone bankrupt).
And we may resume traveling (if there’s gas to buy).
I’m looking forward to it!
In the meantime, I spend my days working, learning Italian vocabulary, and sometimes walking in the woods.
Which brings us to today’s story…
DISEASE IN THE WOODS!
Have you heard of Lyme disease?
It’s a nasty illness humans get when a tick bites them.
Ticks are insects, kinda, which live in fields and forests.
After a walk through the woods the other day, I found a tick had chosen me for a snack.
But there is no test for this disease that’s 100% accurate.
The test may tell you, “Congratulations! No Lyme disease!”
And then next week you wake up with Lyme disease.
As we say in English, better safe than sorry.
So off to town I went to get some antibiotics before it was too late.
FUN IN TOWN
Out here in the country, the nearest town is a thirty-minute drive.
And these days, it’s more like a ghost town.
I was the only customer in the pharmacy.
I gave my prescription to the pharmacist, then walked around the aisles to pass the time.
As I wandered into aisle 6, I noticed another customer.
She quickly went to aisle 5.
So I went to aisle 5.
She quickly left aisle 5 and went to aisle 4.
I also went to aisle 4.
And you can probably guess what she did next.
Here in Virginia, you’ve got to move quickly to survive a visit to the pharmacy.
