Some people LOVE being busy.
They love to work… to feel needed… to be the boss… to play the game.
Gene Simmons, Elon Musk, Alex Hormozi, MrBeast…
In fact, these guys don’t even take vacations!
In English, we say “busy as a beaver.”
But let’s not make this mistake: being busy and being productive are not the same.
You can work all day and get nothing done.
In English we say, “He’s running on a hamster wheel.” (Think of a hamster running on the wheel in his cage.)
Or — here’s my favorite — you can work for a little while, get a lot done, and then take a nap or go home.
That’s called “being efficient.”
What animal is efficient?
Efficient like a… as a….
I don’t know!
Because we don’t have an expression for this in English.
So let’s invent one!
Go to the blog and vote for the most efficient animal.
And tomorrow, maybe we’ll add a new idiom to the English language…
Cheers,
Mr. Vig
P.S.
“Efficient” is Atomic Word #681 in The Atomic Word Dictionary.
But maybe it should be #1.
Because it’s the BIG IDEA behind The Atomic Method.
Small, yet powerful.
Do a little, get a lot done.
Make sense?
Efficient as a squirrel
i think that lion is most efficient animal. Male lion. Because he take nap approximately 20 h per day and rest of this he eat a prey what female lion hunted
About yesterday’s exercise, the word “efficient” wasn’t on the 45 page in the digital version of Atomic Diictionary.
For today guess I have an animal…
Efficient like a spider…he works efficiently
, only makes his web, after he retired in the bushes and wait patiently
I’m pretty sure you would make some nice idioms with the spider…
He’s running on a hamster wheel
He’s waiting…
What about a bee?
In Poland we say as busy as a bee but it’s in a positive sense!
Efficient like a bee, or efficient like an ant.
A spider is an efficient animal. It can make It’s full strong net in few hours.
Efficient as a hummingbird, because they transform 100 % sugar they get into inmeditated energy.
In Poland we say “as busy as an ant” and maybe an ant is also very efficient? I don’t know
Bee and ant!
I think the most efficient animal is the Leopard ou also named Phanter.
Its spots serve as camouflage when hunting. It has one of the most powerful bites, due to the reinforced muscular structure of its forelegs.
This allows the leopard to haul prey weighing up to three times its own body weight up into the trees, thereby preventing other animal from feeding on its catch.
It could be a bee or an ant, I think so
I vote for the bees. Each of them knows their role well. They have an excellent organisation of work, consistent with the rhythm of nature. The results of their work is amazing – they make people’s lives sweeter (healthy sweeter).
I would say: efficient as a ant. They work hard in the right time.
Although people of ANTS are not strong, yet they prepare their meat in the summer.
Cats could be considered the most efficient animals, especially leopards, lions, and domestic cats, because they use little energy when hunting. They do that in a different way – some as solo action, others cooperatively. Their efficiency makes them resilient and flexible, and allows them to spend time relaxing and enjoying leisure.
I think beaver is a very good word, but as an alternative, I would suggest an ant, because it, too, is an animal that accomplishes a great deal relative to its size
Ant, bee, lion male, whale, albatros or condor… but busy like a bee sounds good to me
Bees, known as the most efficient.
My second suggestion: efficient as an eagle.
He always stands on high and sees the whole picture. When the eagle is in action, it descends quickly and straight into the target.
Efficient like owl)
An owl 🦉. It is very wise. Can move its head without moving the body. I believe it is efficient enough.
As efficient as a camel
A camel (my previous answer) was connected with Tuesday Atomic Homework.
And my answer conecting with Wensday Atomic Homework:
As efficient as an elephant. Not so obvious, but… Elephants need only two hours of sleep, and they often do this while standing up. Also, their walking is about one-third more efficient than that of humans.
Or maybe better: as efficient as an eagle. Eagles can fly for a very long time without moving their wings. I have to admit that this was my husband’s idea, not mine, but I really like this competition.
