I had big plans for Sunday.
I was gonna go to brunch, then read a book in the park, then go for a walk.
But first, I decided to check the weather.
Here’s what it said:

On second thought…
I canceled my plans.
Made some more coffee.
And enjoyed the extreme weather from my couch.
EXTREME WEATHER
Every beginner text book teaches you how to talk about the weather.
I still remember my French class in fifth grade.
French Teacher: Quel temps fait-il ?
Me: Il fait du soleil. (It’s sunny.)
Or: Il fait du vent. (It’s windy.)
Or: Il pleut. (It’s raining.)
But that weather is boring!
What do you say when the weather gets out of control?
What does “torrential” mean?
How about “severe”?
What’s a gust?
What is hail?
Share your guesses in the comments and we’ll go deeper with extreme English tomorrow.

I guess the word gust mean a strong wave or hitting of wind .
A hail it’s a severe storm when it rains with pieces of ice 🧊
Torrently is a heavy great amount rainfall in short time. Gust is a sudden speedy wind. Hail is ice falling
Torrential means that the rain is like a courtain. There is a hugh amount of rain and drops with great intensity.
Severe could be a synonym for “tough”.
Maybe gusty is referred to the wind direction, that changes constantly and varies in intensity and force from a time to another.
And maybe hail is referred to the “ice stones” that fall when the weather is stormy.
What does “torrential” mean? Too much, too more???
How about “severe”? Very serious
What’s a gust? ????
What is hail? Rain with frost. Small balls of ice.
Perhaps the similar pronunciation of the words “hell” and “hail” is due to the fact that after “hail” everything can seem like hell: small spheres of ice can destroy trees, cars, roofs…
Gust is an episod of very strong wing.
Torential rain it is a very strong rain: there aren’t drops, it’s like a river falling from the sky.
Severe is like exagerate.
In my school, all these sentences were explained to us with an idiom, “It’s raining cats and dogs!” I don’t know if anyone uses it nowadays.
Torrential is when it’s raining cats and dogs and even more… a big amount of water
Severe means very important, with potentially big damage
Gust … ni idea
Hail is when the rain drops become solid
A strong gustul wind I thing is a wind who don’t blow with the same speed, sometime string ger sometime slower.
Hail might be smoll pieces of ice.
