Prague is a beautiful city.
But most of the city is hidden behind locked doors.
And most of us will never get to look inside the amazing buildings we see from the street.
Except now…
OPEN HOUSE
It started in London in 1992.
One weekend every year, the city opens up some buildings and lets the public walk around.
In 2015, this tradition came to Prague.
And this year, I chose to explore the former East German embassy (now the Goethe Institute).
Two interesting things I remember from the tour:
- The East Germans built an illegal sauna in the basement. The building is an historic landmark and no changes can be made to it without the city’s permission. But the embassy staff wanted a sauna and didn’t feel like asking for permission.
- During the post-Cold War renovation, a wall in the ambassador’s office was torn down and they found some Cold War bugs inside.
What did they find?
BUGS
Yesterday, I told you that if you catch a bug, you have a short, mild illness.
But you can use this small word four more ways!
What does it mean if the Soviets bug your office?
And what are the other ways you can use “bug”?
Share in the comments and we’ll continue this tomorrow.
Cheers,
Mr. Vig

I think “Bugs” means small insects that appear in warm places when you don’t clean properly. It can also mean an error found in a software “Bugs” means small insects that appear in warm places when you don’t clean properly. It can also mean an error found in a software program.program.

At work, I sometimes hear people say there’s a software bug (mistake) or a technical bug (glitch).
My colleague says she’s got stink bugs (Little insects) in her garden.

Stop getting on my nerves = stop bugging me
If Soviets bug the office it means they put microphones.
A bug is also a cockroach

There are ophthalmologists and optometrists. An ophthalmologist is an eye doctor. An optometrist is not a doctor. He studies for a few years at a technical school, not at a medical school. He can consult you to determine your diopters, but he cannot consult in the case of more serious eye diseases, such as cataracts, glaucoma,..
