You need these words
This week, we’re talking about English abbreviations.
Shorter versions of words that are very common.
Where’s a good place to spot abbreviations?
The news!
They use them all the time.
It’s a great way to save space.
And to confuse non-native speakers!
See if you can untangle the meaning of these headlines:
Tech Execs Swap Intel at Crypto Con
Docs Debate New Med Tech at Health Expo
Celebs Clash Over Promo Vid
Here are the abbreviations:
- Tech
- Exec
- Con
- Doc
- Med
- Expo
- Celeb
- Promo
- Vid
Try to figure them out: what are they short for?
Then share your guesses in the comments.
And I’ll give you the answers, plus some more common abbreviations, tomorrow.
Cheers,
Mr. Vig
