I’m back from my vacation!
My Vig Village Vacation.
Eight members traveled to Prague this weekend to have fun and be tourists.
Here are some of the things we did:
- We had dinner on a boat at sunset.
- We took a walking tour of the city with a local guide and learned about Prague history, architecture, legends and the statues of David Cerny.
- We heard a classical music concert in the famous Mirror Chapel.
- We went dancing till 1 am at a disco that only plays music from the ’80s and ’90s.
- We had a picnic lunch on an island.
- We drank local beer at a typical Czech beer garden.
And of course, we learned some new words.
New words!
Let’s talk about that this week.
Here’s word number one…
DOGGIE BAG
Sunday morning we went for brunch at an Irish pub.
The Irish portions were big and one of the members couldn’t finish her breakfast sandwich.
She wanted to get it to go and finish it on the train but didn’t know what to say.
I told her, “Ask for a doggie bag.”
She didn’t believe it would work.
“I don’t have a dog!” she protested.
“Trust me,” I told her.
She did.
She asked for a doggie bag.
The waitress said, “Of course.”
Took her plate.
And returned with her sandwich wrapped in foil and in a bag and ready for the train.
Why do you think we call it a “doggie bag”?
Cheers,
Mr. Vig

It reminds me of a hidden camera broadcast where a person systematically asked for a doggy bag even in the most exclusive places and above all what was amazing and amusing
(Of course, it’s funnier in real life than seeing the pictures) but I also asked for a doggy bag even when you’ve only left a small piece of salad on a plate.
