Hey!
How was your weekend?
On Saturday, I met some Vig Village members online.
One thing we talked about was “big words vs. small words.”
When I write, I like small words.
But sometimes in conversation, it’s nice to whip out a Smart Word.
But be careful!
There are some words that are big and complicated, but they’re not smart.
I call them…
Dumb Words
Use a Smart Word and you sound smart.
Use a dumb word and, well, you sound like you’re a robot or from another planet.
Becasue no one uses these words!
Today I read the word “interlocutor.”
Ug!
Only an English teacher would use such a terrible word.
Just say “conversation partner.”
People will understand you and they’ll stop avoiding you at cocktail parties.
My weekend was marvellous. Many flowers on Saturday and very good company & food: obviously, thath’s the most important. There isn’t ‘dumb words’ when you have something like that, good day guys!🌈💓
I like short words because I remember short words better. Often long words are clever words and have many meanings. It’s not easy to be understood if I don’t know how others will understand what I said.
Now I try to read a little in English every day, and needless to say, almost all the power words recommended to us by Mister Vig are in the book. So, thank you!
People love jokes and funny stories. If you know any, tell them. This way you will be liked and invited to parties.
Super !!!
The European Fotbal Championship has started in Germany Friday.
And I’m very happy.

Hi!
I´ll try with small words. My weekend was pure pleasure for the ears and eyes. Why? My home is right next to the forest. All my mornings begin and evenings end with concert. It´s still spring and there are so many birds singing here. Google help…Yes, they are larks, nightingales, cuckoos and smoke swallows around the house. Every spring they come and start new cycle of life. I am not the poet and can´t put it into words, but it´s incredibly beautiful! One more week and then there will be silence.
Hey, how are You, thanks a lot,
I didnt have any problem with this word(nor I haven’t any idea it was dumb) , but Cambridge Dictionary gives us a very special meaning for the word interlocutor – 1) someone who is involved in a conversation
and 2)someone who is involved in a conversation and who is representing someone else,; and one of the related words is “demagogical” 😀 XDDD
Have a nice day!
Yes, words are a powerful tool.
There are smart and dumb words; there are healing words and killer words; there are words that open doors and words that close them. There are also words with which we can fly.
This powerful tool is best wielded with awareness / mindfulness. Vit. V helps with this!
Thanks!
Very wise and beautiful response
I like this story
For Italian people the word “interlocutor” sounds good because we often use “interlocutore” with the same meaning. Thank you for your interesting and funny stories.
I too have had a wonderful weekend. We are taking holiday in Croatia just now, the weather is nice and hot, the see is a bit cold but azzure blue, the birds are singing in the pines around in mornings and evenings, and cicadas are chirping trough the day from the second the sun reaches the trees they are hiding in. I don’t even mind the owl which wakes us every night. Probably the most beautiful weekend in this year, but who knows what the future brings?
