I don’t watch TV.
Except….
When I’m staying in a hotel.
It’s fun to see what people watch in other countries.
So last night in my hotel room I decided to see what was on the BBC.
I picked up the remote.
It had about 40 buttons.
But I only needed four buttons.
That’s bad product design.
Bad teaching is similar.
The teacher gives you too much information.
You just need enough information to get the result you need.
So last week, I told you I would give you Five Commandments for Awesome English.
I’ve already given you four commandments.
So what’s #5?
Well, I can think of a hundred things you could do for better English.
But what if I didn’t give you another commandment?
What if I only taught you four commandments?
That would be a remote with four buttons…
Only the buttons you need…
Would’t that be nice.
Your Turn
Do you remember The Four Commandments for Awesome English?
1.. Write the four commandments in the comments below
2. Exercise your memory.
3. Win a seat in Vitamin V Heaven
first commandment: Thou shalt not study!
Eh, well..
In Romania it is a so aggressive wave of heat that you can forget many things, but I remember these interesting commandments for an awesome English. They are:
1. Thou shalt not study
2. Thou shalt not wory about…
3.. Thou shall make an enemy of Perfect
4. Enjoy English but in an active way( reading, practicing, discussing, talking…)
Wow, your memory works well even in the heat ! I was able to remember only two of them, then I had to look… But 36 dgC here is too much for me too ! Maybe my brain started to boil already.?
Today, I’m supposing we are on the edge of the heat dome , because over one hour the highest temperature will get down slowly one degree for each hour , more earlier than yesterday. I have read that there are many heat domes now over Europe and US ( in June) I wonder how the scientists, the physicians didn’t find a way to break down this heat dome until now.
Best regards from the edge of the heat dome, at least I hope!
Please, no rules no order. The feeling when your think in English… the feeling when you speak, listen, read, watch.
the most important thing is to talk every day and about various topics.
Yes, it’s wonderful when you’ve the opportunity to do that every day, and with many people ! Cherish it !
Yes – that’s true: less is more. The same rule existes for inatance in voque: if you weare to much details the result is worst.
If I Remember well the commadments are:
Do not study
Do not be perfect
Enjoy the process, do not focus on result
Do not worry
Almost! You forgot “every day.”
Thank you!
What’s #5?,I think – start now with the activity, strong recomandation from Mr. Vig !
The 4 commandments according to me:
It’s realy good méthode
“Less is more.” This is the 5th I think. 😀
Oh, sorry I have to check them out :-)).
My conclusion under the fourth commandment is enjoy English everyday
Less is always more ! It applies in everything…
