“I want better English because nowadays nobody asks you, ‘Do you speak English?’”.
So true!
When I first became a nomad I would ask “Do you speak English?” whenever I needed something in a shop or cafe.
Usually, they looked at me like, “Who do you think I am? Of course I speak English!”
So I stopped asking the question.
Everyone speaks English.
Yesterday I visited a travel agency here in Turkey. Young man was sitting in the office, yes he speak English. Super. He also speak Rusian, Turkish, Azerbejani, Arabian , Farsi and some dialects as well.He is from Iran originally and so modest. We chat and it was my pleasure to meet him.
I really admired him and was left little thoughtful after I left.
And I’m from Iran and proud to him .
It is not so true, there are some countries where is very difficult to communicate in English, expecially in “official places” such as information offices or even at borders where you have to present numerous documents and it is quite inconvenient when you are nomads and don’t have a common reference language….
I’m proud to speak english too, because I didn’ t study at school, there was no English teacher. Now is different, at my work I need english, we travel more and more, everyone speaks english😎🎙.

In some places, even countries, a lot of peoples don’t speak English, and you have to ask them! There are countries at the bottom of ranking in English. Don’t forget.
I visit Germany three for times a year and use my german but almost every person I talk to starts with “can we speak english”. I think they want to exercise that language or… The possibility is that they think it will be a better result because me a swed shold talk english better. It is no problem for me because I need to exercise the both of them.
The most spoken language globally is English than Spanish.
It is understandable this doesn’t mean we will meet English speaking people wherever we go. But comparing to time 50 years ago learning any language is much easier thanking to new technology and much more opportunity to travel globally what gives everyone chance to have conversation in English with foreigners.
