Do you want to live in London?
Do you think that will improve your English?
It might.
Or it might not….
A Wasted Year
Back in the old days, when I was working for the language schools, I had a student who had spent one year in Australia.
When he told me this fact, I scratched my head and thought, “Why isn’t his English better?”
Then he revealed the answer to this mystery: He had moved to Australia… WITH HIS CZECH GIRLFRIEND!
And of course, they were speaking Czech all the time.
What a wasted opportunity!
The secret to speaking better English is to put yourself in situations where you MUST speak English.
Make sense?
I agree with you
Yes,you are absolutely right:I am now 2 weeks in NY,and never less speaking english….because I am with lithuanian friends and evenand relatives, who came to NY….I am surprised, that I almost forget to chat in english….but it is only contempory, next wekk return to EU and everything will be as usual and with english chatrooms
Absolutly make sence.
Maybe we waste the opportunity to speak English sometimes
What is the secret? Рut yourself in a situation where you must speak English, as you said. I would add to search for such a situationл
Coming from France, during my first stay in London , when I met French people , I told them I couldn’t speak french.
Nevertheless, with my family living in the United States, It ‘s very weird for us to chat with another language than our mother tongue which is the vietnamese. In my opinion, it is difficult to change the language with the close relatives.
Have a nice week=end, teacher!
We see eye to eye.
Thanks, I thing so.
I agree with you . If this person had enjoyed this time to speak only English outside and inside with his girl friend, he could have made a big progress in English.
Thanks for your daily mails with interesting advice and little humorous stories 😀!
Have a good weekend!
I’m sure to put yourself in the situation”You must do it” is the best way to learn something as well as English speaking. With other words you must get out in the comfort zone .
Thank you, it was educational and humorous story… 🤗
