I just took a Grab ride.
Instead of Uber and Bolt, that’s what they use in Thailand.
It was rush hour.
I must have sat in his car for 30 or 40 minutes just to go a few miles.
And you know what he said to me during that whole time?
Nothing!
Here’s why that’s interesting…
EXCUSES
This week I’m knocking down the top excuses for not practicing speaking.
Today’s is – “I don’t have anyone to practice with.”
My reply…
Really?
Or are you like the Grab driver? (who probably would like a better job but needs better English for a better job and complains he doesn’t have anyone to practice with).
My point is this: there are opportunities all around us.
The opportunity probably won’t be called “English teacher wants to play video games with you.”
Instead, you may have to get find or create your own opportunities.
But these days, with the internet, Zoom and smart phones, it’s never been easier
And, of course, I can strongly recommend the friendliest place on the internet, where you can have a conversation any day and (almost) any time in small groups and with a native speaker…
