I hear a lot of people say they don’t like Sundays.
Especially Sunday evenings.
Maybe it’s because in the morning they have to return to a job they hate.
Or maybe it’s just an emotional memory from their school days.
Whatever the reason, I don’t get it. Because my Sunday evenings are like a night at the movies in Tijuana!
(Which means I watch a movie and eat a spicy pork quesadilla from Burrito Loco.)
Well, I think it’s fun.
Anyway, the movie on my laptop last Sunday was “The Name of the Rose.”
Ever seen it? If you haven’t, basically it’s a murder-mystery set in an abbey (that’s where monks live) in the 14th century.
And while I was watching it I was thinking, “A different world…just a completely different world…”
Shaving the top of your head… men greeting each other with a kiss on the lips… the devil hiding behind every corner…
Strange times.
But it was nice to see that one thing wasn’t different – these medieval monks were using the familiar “memorize and translate” technique to read their Latin texts.
And now you too can learn this technique, too!
Just visit any language school.
But hurry! In a few more centuries, things might finally change…
