Our Sunday afternoon guests didn’t look very happy.
There were four kids, plus their dad.
And although they had just spent the day swimming and eating banana ice
cream, their faces were rather long.
“Well, I guess we should get going. Tomorrow’s a big day,” said their dad.
“What’s happening?” I asked.
“It’s the fist day of school.”
Ah ha.
That explains it.
What’s That?
The conversation was suddenly interrupted when one of the kids shouted.
“What?” we asked.
She was pointing at a nearby hill.
A moment before, the hill had been occupied by about a dozen dear grazing on the grass.
Now the deer were running off into the woods as a black dot approached them…
What was it?
Back To School
Here in the U.S., some schools are opening, some schools are opening just a
few days a week, and some schools, like my nieces expensive university, are
charging full tuition while the professors sit at their kitchen tables and talk
into their phones.
I’m glad I’m not a student now.
Although I hated suffering through Latin and French, I loved the time
between classes.
Clubs… sports… the playground… riding the bus… parties… plays…
concerts…
I’ve always wondered, because kids are so good at having fun…
What if teachers and parents connected that positive energy to their
language lessons…?
Reading comic books in English… Watching Pixar movies in English…
playing video games in English… speaking to other kids from the U.S. and
Australia…
If you had done all those things when you were a kid, do you think your
English would be better today?
A Lesson From The Animal Kingdom
Can you make out the black dot when I zoom in?
It’s a black bear.
He’s visiting the deer feeder where sometimes we put corn.
As animals do, he’s focused only on surviving.
Nowadays, it seems that’s also become the main focus for many humans,
despite having shelter and plenty of food.
I recommend something else.
It’s called “thriving.”
It was a great pleasure joining your interesting program and studied the lovely article for 1st time this morning and am very much looking forward to working alongside you and hearing from you in order to further strengthening my English skills and fluency. Let me say, your program is useful
