I’m going back!
150 years ago (and two months and twelve days) my great, great, great grandmother sailed from England to America.
And in two weeks, I’m going back!
What should I bring with me?
Hmm, maybe some suntan lotion… my bathing suit… a book…
Oh! And how about:
Their Terrible English Spelling!
I can’t escape it!
It seems every time I leave the house, I see a sign that says “olde” instead of “old.”
Or “towne” instead of “town.”
“Thyme” instead of “time.”
I see them used by businesses that are trying to advertise that they are old, historic and English.
I think it just says, “We don’t know how to use spellcheck.”
Here’s the latest sign I found…
Did Shakespeare really eat tacos?
I don’t think so!
Do You Have A Message For The English?
So when I return to Europe at the end of the month, my first stop will be England.
After I ask them why they can’t spell, I’ll tell them to take back their extra vowels.
Is there anything you’d like me to tell the English?
Maybe a question about their illogical grammar?
Or a comment about their crazy pronunciation that doesn’t match their spelling?
If yes, share in the comments below.
Don’t forget to tell them to join us. MR. VIG Advance English…… They need it!
Good idea! Should they get a discount for being native speakers?
