I always fast when I travel.
When you don’t eat for a day or longer, this is called “fasting.”
(It’s also where we get the word “breakfast.”)
And because yesterday I was travelling, today around noon I was starving.
I found a grocery store and grabbed a basket.
Soon it was full, so I exchanged it for a trolley.
And as I was busy filling it up, I heard a voice behind me ask:
“Do you speak English?”
I turned and saw a kid about 15 or 16 years old.
“Sure,” I said.
Then he pointed to some bottles with crazy letters on them.
“Is that milk?”
“Whoooa,” I thought to myself. “I didn’t know they had deja vu* in Bulgaria!”

A New Month, A New Country
Yesterday, I arrived in Bulgaria.
Why am I here?
Reason #1: I’m a travelling teacher. Thanks to the internet, work and travel is my life.
Reason #2: I’ve always wanted to live in a ski town.
When I was a kid, it was a big deal to go skiing.
You had to wake up early and drive a long way.
But in the movies, I saw that some people just walked to the slopes.
“Hmm, wouldn’t that be cool,” a younger Mr. Vig pondered.
And now I’m making it happen.
Do You Speak English?
I looked back at the kid and told him, “You should have asked me if I speak Bulgarian.”
He looked disappointed.
We stared at the bottles for a moment.
I wanted to help him.
“It has a picture of a cow,” I told him.
He still wasn’t convinced it was milk.
Maybe he thought cows make orange juice in Bulgaria.
So I told him, “Come on, what’s the worst that could happen?”
Still, he didn’t pick up the bottle.
Maybe he had a very good imagination and saw himself pouring gasoline on his corn flakes.
Finally, I told him what I told myself when I was buying butter in Georgia.
“It’s an adventure!”
welcome to Bulgaria 🙂 Bansko is a nice place:)
maybe you will visit Sofia in this one month and we can drink a beer
have a nice stay!
Thanks! Yes, I like it! The mountains are lovely. I plan to visit Sofia for a few days in April. So maybe we can get a Sofia group together….
I hope, you will decide to move in Brașov, after Bansko. It,s very nice too
Really? I haven’t heard of it. But maybe I’ll investigate…
Brașov îs rhe place where Dracula hear you, a town near Bran, The castle of Dracula, Vlad Țepeș.
