Irony.
What’s ironic today?
Well, I was thinking about the date: tomorrow is September 1.
And in the Czech Republic, where I lived for many years, and in Estonia, where I am now, and probably in many other countries around Europe and the world, September 1 is the first day of school.
And I didn’t like school!
Did you?
5th grade through 7th grade… those were ok years.
But high school was just the worst!
I thought most of my subjects were a waste of time.
I thought most of my teachers were boring.
And I thought most of my classmates belonged in a zoo.
And now I’m a teacher – ha!
That’s irony!
Alanis Morrisset sang “…rain on your wedding day… Isn’t it ironic…”
Actually, that’s just bad luck.
(And bad English.)
See the difference?
I love the rain…💞⛈️☔🌧️
Isn’t it “belonged to the zoo”?
That’s irony
No, it’s correct. Like “He belongs in jail.”
I like rain, something is fascinating for me in rain ..👌
I see the difference between two sitations which you introduced. I agree that rain in a Morrisset’s song is bad luck not irony.
HI !
May I call You Ryan ? Ok, thank You !
Rain on the wedding day is a sign of wealth.
You are an English teacher.
But, now You are no longer obliged to respect the canons of the school.
Now ,you practice it in own way, and You do it wonderfully.
THANK YOU !
I didn’t like the school either. (Neither?) But when I was studing later, adult, I loved it. And I was good 😁
I love the rain too. It is relaxing.
And a good sing on the wedding day.
Thank you for the email again.
The part about school lead me to this ironic song: School Song (Full Song) | Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical
…rain on your wedding day… We can change the meaning: newlyweds are showered with happiness. Good night.
Hmm… well, you didn´t like school, but grew up and became good and smart and even Teacher. Lucky you!
Happy September 1 to everyone!
You are beatiful, Bro. Everything you said is true.
No, I see no differences. I agree with you because I know you, and I am sure that all what you said is ironic. Yes, it’s ironic that sometimes things we don’t like first we do later with love. I know you are a lucky teacher and happy man. I am sure. Thanks a lot for your sharing.
It is funny! Thanks!
Ehehe very good reality
I remember back in the school 1st.
September.
Thank you Ryan, you are my favourite teacher
I like the rain when you get married so I dont think that is irony and bad luck
