We have an expression in English: Weekend Warrior.
It describes someone who does zero sports or exercise Monday through Friday, but when the weekend comes, he hits the gym or the baseball field or the golf course.
And then Monday morning, he’s bruised and soar.
Not ideal, but I guess better than nothing.
I’ve seen the same thing with English.
It’s a common mistake.
When a student schedules a consultation with me, he or she tells me, “I watch hours of movies in English every week.”
But when I dig deeper, I find out it all happens at the weekend.
Not ideal. (Plus, movies are also not ideal…)
Becasue, as my student Karel says, “less is more.”
He does a little at a time, maybe only twenty minutes in the evening.
But it’s every evening.
And that’s ideal.
Less is more…
