Let’s do a quick review.
What was Big Memory Mistake #1?

Memory Week
This week we’re talking about how to improve your memory so you can remember words so you can speak easier.
Doesn’t that sound lovely?
And specifically, we’re talking about what NOT to do.
Big Mistake #1 was translating.
Big Mistake #2 was learning from lists.
Big Mistake #3 was learning anything that’s boring.
Which brings me to…
Big Mistake #4
Not reviewing!
Do you remember people’s names the first time you meet them?
Most people don’t.
Usually, you have to see the person a second time and third time and forth time…
And each time it’s like, “Oh! What’s his name!? I know it… it’s… it’s… uh…”
And then you have to ask the person again what his name is.
Of course, you think you’re the only person in the world who has this problem.
But you can relax, you’re quite normal.
According to research, you need to see a new word nine to eleven times before you remember it.
Make sense?
Good!
Now….
What was Big Mistake #4…?
Memory mistakes:
#1 translating
#2 learning on lists
#3 learning something boring
#4 don’t revewing
#5 wanting a SUPERMEMORY
Dear Ryan I already read about your Hook and Hammer technique in your superb five English guides but I don’t mean it’s about a supermemory but it is about a normal memory…and this method of reviewing the word at least nine times plus image and sound.
My mistaks:
#1 translating
#2 I know it but I don`t do it
#3 I´m doing it at the wrong time
For me the most important information is that you need to see word at least 9- 11 times . It gave me alleviation. I feel relief everything is ok..uff….
I made these mistakes.
Hi Mr.Vig,
all mistakes done. It´s time to start fixing them! Now it´s easier, because your advice are so comforting, like a big pat on a child…Many thanks!
I´m on a pause at the moment but in August I plan to continue Speed School.
I wanted to know if this method can help someone with dyslexia, because due to this condition I can’t put the words in order. As a result I can’t speak. Thank you.
Hi Anastasia, I’m not an expert on dyslexia so I can’t give you definite advice. But I can say, it’s worth trying. Then you can tell me if it works for someone with dyslexia. (I have a feeling it would help.)
#1 translating
#2 learling from lists
#3 boring
#4 don’t remember any more ☺️
That’s so true 🤗
My mistakes:
The big mistake 1 is translating. The big mistake 2 is learning words from lists . The big mistake 3 is learning anything thats boring and big mistake 4 is we think that we could remember the words from first time.its not possible. we will remember better the new words when we need to see nine to eleven times , according to research
