Yesterday I told you about my ex-girlfriend and her interesting mistake:
“Christmas are over” she used to say.
Her English was excellent, except around December 26…
Why?
Christmas Music
I thought she made this mistake because Christmas has an “s” at the end and the rule says words with an “s” are plural.
But two Czech readers point out that the Czech word for Christmas is a plural noun.
Either way, I want to make a bigger point.
The reason she made this mistake was…
She didn’t listend to enough Christmas music!
For example…
She didn’t listen to Christmas Is by Bing Crosby.
Christmas is children who just can’t go to sleep
Christmas is memories, the kind you always keep
She didn’t listen to Christmas Is All Around, by Billy Mack.
I feel it in my fingers
I feel it in my toes
Christmas is all around me
And so the feeling grows
And most importantly, she didn’t listen to the greatest English teachers in the history of the world…
The Muppets!
Enjoy,
Mr. Vig
It was good but I had need to lesson again and again
Thank you for your all stories.
For me it sounds a little judgmental but often when smth is over, it is sad ..
I’m sorry I couldn’t pay even though I didn’t use this course. I don’t want to bother anyone. I thought it was important to give a sign of life during the holidays, that’s nice.
Christmas is coming, the goose is getting fast. Please to put a penny in the old man´s hat. If you haven´t got a penny, a ha-penny will do. If you haven´t got a ha-penny than God bless you. If you haven´t got a ha-penny…. Let´s be relaxed, happy and focused. Deck the halls and give a cheer. For all the things that Christmas is each year. Wow, nice, thanks…. I feel it in my fingers, I feel it in my toes. Christmas is over, what is all around us? And so the feeling grows….
What`s life without magic and Christmas without music? One of my favorite songs in English is “I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas.” I think studying English through songs with subtitles is lovely and exciting.
Cool! Enjoyable! Remembering.Back to youth. Thanks!
Thanks for your explanation. You are not only the best professor, you are the best professor with a charm. Best regards.
Thanks!
Cheers ! 🍻
Thanks for your beautiful stories but I need to lesson .
In Greek language too, the Christmas noun is plural and we say: Christmas are coming.
Dear Mr. Vig, is it so important to waste our time for so small mistake?!
