Mistakes.
Understanding.
Forgetting words.
All common problems.
But there’s another big problem I want to talk about today…
No Snow In Thailand
Hello from Southeast Asia.
I am a traveling teacher.
And this month, I’m in Thailand.
The main religion here is Buddhism, but Christmas lights and Christmas trees and Christmas music is everywhere.
And let me tell you, it’s a strange thing when you’re sitting outside at a cafe and it’s 88 degrees and on the radio Bing Crosby is singing, “I’m dreaming of a white Christmas.”
Another Problem
“I’m shy to speak.”
That’s another common problem.
Let’s talk about that this week.
I’ll tell you my experiences.
And I’ll give you some helpful tips.
But first, I want to hear from you.
Is this also your problem?
How does it feel?
And what are you doing to fix this problem?
Click the big button below to jump over to the blog and tell me all about your shyness (if that’s your challenge).
Until tomorrow…
I’m shy, I have no right words, I have no voice, I’m shy
Thanks to your course, I’m
Not shy anymore.
Congratulations!
I like you teacher, mister Vig
I dont care if I speak and write incorrectly…..I know lot of words and the English is not my native language and I dont use it for work as a meeting with mates or such on places where I need to speak correctly.I like to know new words but I dont like to learn grammatic unfortunatelly..))So I would like to develop and improve the listening …..and I would like to improve my expressions….
I’m shy to speak not only in English but in my native language. I’m thinking if this what I want to tell will be interesting for the other people. And when we talk in English l’m nervous because I think that I haven’t appropriate words to say exactly what I want. Maybe this is not needed?!
I am not shy to speak in English, but i don’t know more words and it is to difficult to understand and speak. To remember new words for me is difficult, but I tray😉
I am happy be he with you🤗
My problem is that, when I am in front of someone who expects me to speak (in English), I get stuck. My vocabulary goes out of my mind.
I’ve exactly the same problem
Yes, I’m shy to speak because I cannot to remember words and their pronunciation.
It’s so probably that I made mistakes and forgot words.I didn’t know never can see snowing in Thailand but this is a common thing with the global warmth situation. You’re very right, it’s extremely strange to hear a Christmas song when outside is a high degrees temperature. I’m afraid it’s not a good feeling, but do not become superstitious….
I am not shy, the only problem is the lack of good vocabulary.
Thank you teacher,it is interesting to hear .
When I’m among people, who speak English well and fluently then a feel worse and I don’t remember words and I can’t build sentences.
I agree with Jolanda
Hi Ryan !
Shy ? ,why ? I have no reason to
Although,many words,when I have to converse with someone,it happens that I don’t
manage to remember the necessary words.
I’m shy special when I am in group of native speakers. But when I talk with other people I am not so shy. When I was in Egypt for example, I did not shy….
I speak a little English bat my vocabulary is still small. How can IvIearn more words?
I don’t like Snow. Prefer 77 degrees. I’m shy befor understanding the people, the situation. Have a great time.
Many people who study English are shy to talk because they are afraid if they make grammar mistakes or talk correctly. I am an English teacher and I always encourage my students not to worry about grammar when they speak. I explain to them that it is very important to learn more words and expressions because even if they make grammar mistakes but use the right words to say what they need to say, people would still understand them. I always give them the example that happened to me: one of my students once told me: “Teacher, me no come to class tomorrow; me sick, me go doctor”. Did you get the message even if it’s grammatically very wrong? I did.
I am also shy, because I forget words and with the fear that I would make a mistake mostly I don’t say a word. But you helped me a lot so I improved my English-speaking and listening /understanding and now it is better.
I suppose that in the southern hemisphere they have the same problem.
Being Santa Claus in Australia on Christmas must be an unpleasant experience…

Anna from Galati Romania!
I’m not shy but I learned English about 60 years ago at school. So I forgot many (most) words and I can’t keep new words in my mind. I speak English when I visit foreign countries at holidays.
I may say I am shy, too. When I have to talk with people in English, I am getting nervous, because I am not confident speaking in English. For me, that’s due to lack of enough vocabulary and, more over, lack of practicing…
Good morning from Greece, i’m not shy to speak but i speak translating my language and with many mistakes and i don’t think in the language i speak . Thanks for your help.
My problem: I do not understand, what someone speak. So I am very happy for Mr. Vig.
I try to brake my shy, go out of comfort zone and speak. There is no other ways to improve!
Hi, I’m not shay anymore and for that I’m thankful for you.
Another tools for be good in a conversation are: to be able to understand people, to have vocabulary baggage and have knowledges in grammar.
Yes, I’m definetly shy to speak English. I need to say exactly what I want to say, precisely and correct. I had sad experience in English conversation with a great people from US. It was an extremely short talk. It was very unpleasant situation for me, remember it to this day. It’s a terrible feel: want to speak and can’t. Maybe I should write with somebody for the beginning …
I’m always shy at the beginning of the conversation, especially with the new people. And I don’t feel fluent enough to speak English. But I do speak anyway.
You are the best teacher.
I usually get stuck when I need to speak with someone who is .. like a level or two better in English than me or if the opponent is from English speaking country – I feel like they literally wait for my mistakes.
When is necesar talk in english with another person ,in my mind all about english is deleted.
Thank you teacher, it is interesting to hear. I’ve exactly the same problem.
