Do you know the names of your colleagues?
The ones who work in your office with you?
You do?
Did you learn their names the first day?
Or did it take you a few days or weeks?
“Tell me your name again…”
“Sorry, I forgot your name. Can you remind me?”
“Your name’s Bob, right?”
I think that’s normal.
But with English words, if you don’t remember them immediately, you think you have a brain disease.
Learning Swiss Army Knife Words: TIP 3
Review. Repeat. Revise.
You’ve got to see a word a lot before it goes into your brain.
Especially if it’s a Swiss Army Knife word and you already know one meaning and you want to learn another meaning.
Some reasearch says 9-11 times.
Other research says 40+ times.
So do you have a bad memory?
Or did you simply not review enough?
P.S.
Want ALL my best secrets for mastering English words?
A few years ago I wrote a small book caled VocabFast.
It was for sale in my store.
Many students bought it.
And many students used the valuable information inside this small guide to finally get good at English.
Then I re-designed my store.
And now you can’t buy it anywhere.
Not even on Amazon.
But maybe I’ll bring it back.
Just for the weekend.
What do you think?
This is very interesting! I’m waiting for this VocabFast.
Why just for the weekend? Review. Repeat. Revise. And make a good decision to buy or not to buy VocabFast. Have a generous evening.
Really please, Mr. Vig. to bring it. I would be happy to have it. Your learning secrets suit me very well! Thank you very much.
I’m waiting for the guide!
Cheers,
Flora
Thanks//I would like to have it/
I think it’s a good idea. I’m curious!
I am very interested in your book Vocabfast!
The best time when I progresed in English was at the begining, when I got little boocks that vere adaptations of famous books of literature, very summarized so that the words uses were few. So, they were repeited in the text.
I think it could be a great idea!
Hi Ryan,
Today we hear many times debating about memory, it’s already boring…! In my opinion memory is a sort of container/ place where we put a lot of things learned entire our life…Good, but it’s not unfinished, time to time we have to throw something out and introduce something else new, in the order of priorities. In this way, I think ,in certain limits, forgetting is a normal process plus it has also other functions when we are in the state to suffer for something that affects our emotions and feelings.
Nice to show and share with us ALL your secrets!, I’m curious to find out the secrets of An American!
All the best
It’s good idea. I will wait for VocabFast 👍
I’m already expecting too VocabFast!
It’s good idea. I wait for VocabFast
Great news! I’m interested in this book. I hope I’ll catch it!
Hi! Vocabfast can be a good tool to “Review. Repeat. Revise.” Thanks.
There are some words with tough pronunciation and it takes a huge effort to remember them. I don’t know exactly how many times it is necessary to Review. Repeat. Revise them, 9-11 times or even more if someone wants to master the pronunciation.

At the beginning of the course, my brain was confused, but I very persistently dug into all your very original and imaginative guidance and encouragement. After the difficult first steps, walking is now easier and more efficient. Thank you Mr. Vig for driving us forward with your efford and heard.
We think that it’s perfect 🙂
Forgetting names and others things – we all know it.
Looking back to the beginning I have gone through 3 stages:
-excitement (and my excessive expectation)
-hopelessness (and self-pity)
-Peace. And realization that everything is possible
Ryan, if you are willing to share your VocabFast, it can only get better.
