This week, we’re talking about travel.
I say, travel was more adventurous back in the days before the internet and smart phones.
But getting lost isn’t the only way to have an adventure when you travel.
Here’s how one of my Vig Village members had an adventure without even leaving home…
Talking To Strangers
She was sitting in a cafe in her home town.
At the table next to her was a mother and daughter from America.
She thought, “I should practice my English. But what will I say?”
Finally, she couldn’t think of anything to say, so she just said “Hi.”
And the conversation started.
Every tourist is happy to meet a local.
And every local is happy to help a tourist.
Your homework: Talk to strangers!
I think it’s great idea but I need more practice in small talk 🙂
Every tourist is happy to meet a local. Really? Are you kidding? I am not. A hate to talk to strangers.
You like to travel but you dont like to meet and talk to locals or strangers.
You have stangers in your town too.
You can talk/practice in shops, markets, museums,… Every local isnt also happy to meet tourists and talk with them but mostly are useful. Maybe every of them dont have enough time and good mood every day.
Yes Ryan, I get it is very important to practice talking to a stranger…
I am an old woman, teacher, always asking someone something and looking for an answer. When I travel I don’t hasitate to ask a stranger how can I return.
I behave the same
I’m not very good in this kind of situations. But when I see someone is sad or seems to be lonely, I always go to chat. Sometimes I ask: Is everythig ok…
I love this story. I experienced it myself in Paris. The first move to break the ice was a smile, then a “Hi” then a compliment “I love your T shirt”… It’s really cool to speak english with tourists, and it’s even more fun when you discover that they enjoy the conversation too. Just a nice pleasant moment to share.
