Last night a friend invited me to dinner.
It was an international group: Kiwi, Austrian, Italian, English…
And one American.
When I asked the American, “Is that an American accent or Canadian?” she said “American” in a voice that told me “I don’t like my country.”
And that’s a pity.
Because how you see your home affects your happiness and confidence.
Here’s how it works:
Every country has an interesting past and a dark past.
In every country today, you can point to the good or the bad.
Which you focus on is simply a choice.
Focus on the positive, be grateful for what your homeland gave you, and you will be a happier, more confident person.
It’s a fact: Grateful people are happy people.
It’s impossible to be grateful and sad.
So finish this sentence if you want to be happy:
I am grateful for: ______
Have a grateful weekend.

Hi. I am grateful for I was born and lived in Czechoslovakia of socializm system. For that I studied for free, for we had own vegetables, fruits and meat in bio quality from own field, for people helping each other, for was safe. But I felt that I couldn’t stand out from the crowd. That we were all very much the same. I felt a lack of freedom. A lack of freedom to travel around the world… That is why I am grateful that I know what dictatorship and totalitarianism are. I am grateful that today I recognize what totalitarianism is and what freedom is. I am also grateful that people from all over the world can tolk to each other here.
