It’s a holiday in the US today.
No, I’m not in the US.
But I was born there.
So I’ve decided to take the afternoon off.
We’ll resume our discussion of native-speaker expressions tomorrow.

But just one quick thing before I head off…
In my family, before we eat the Thanksgiving meal, t’s a tradition to go around the table and say one thing you’re grateful for.
In other words, to give thanks for something.
This year I’m far from home, but I’d like to continue that tradition here.
So imagine we’re all sitting around the table together…
Uncle Bob has just finished talking about how he’s grateful the judge let him out of jail early.
And now it’s my turn…
“I am thankful for you, my students.
It’s a lonely teacher who has no students.
And me, well, I’ve got my loyal Vitamin V readers… my brave One-Month Speed School members… and my serious Power Word Academy members.
Wow.
I am truly fortunate.”
Cheers,
Mr. Vig
P.S.
I’m spending Thanksgiving in Turkey.
If you know why that’s funny, post it in the comments.
Eat turkey in Turkey 😉
Exactly!
Usually, Americans eat turkey on Thanksgiving evening…
Correct!
The “Young Turks” movement had started protesting long ago against the use of the funny name of their country. The Parliament -as far as I know- finally decided to change Turkey officially to “Türkye” and leave the tasty bird for more earthly purposes in the kitchen..
Exactly. After the relevant declaration to UN this change is now official worldwide.
Interesting. I did not know that.
I am thankful for you Mr Vig and yours One-Month Speed School 🙂
I think it’s funny because you can eat turkey in Turkey
Right!
But just one quick thing before I head off… it’s nice sentence I like it. Thanksgiving for this text from you.
