“Let’s start a family,” says Mrs. Frankenstein.
“Ok,” says her husband. “Tonight, at midnight, Igor and I will get our shovels and go down to the cemetery and…”
“No more monsters!” shouts Mrs. Frankestein. “I want to make a baby the natural way!”
“Oh, that’s too easy!” says the disappointed doctor.
Natural vs. Unnatural
Is learning language natural?
We all did it.
We were born.
We breathed.
We ate.
We grew.
And we learned a language.
And….
We all learned this language in the same way.
Just like we all breathe the same way…
Just like we all digest food the same way…
Just like we grew our bodies the same way…
We all learned our first language the same way.
How?
We listened.
We made mistakes.
We played.
And we had fun.
But then!
Twenty… thirty… forty years later, the adult decides to learn language #2.
And instead of repeating what worked the first time, he creates an unnatural monster.
First, he travels to a classroom.
Then, he listens to an expert.
They analyze, diagram, conjugate, drill, study and memorize.
And finally, as a bonus, they add boredom and stress.
Ug.
You can make a beautiful baby and you can have fun making it.
Or, like Dr. Frankenstein, you can rob graves at midnight and create a monster.
Natural or unnatural.
Which do you prefer?
I will prefer the natural.
Frankly, I can reflect on this huge issue during the whole night…
Hy, I learn English naturally! I listen and remember if I liked a word. Technikely I understand what I read but I can’t speak. I understand more what I read than what I hear.
Thank You for the SF story with the natural vs. unnatural English Monster… I love to read stories.
Of course the natural way is much better.
Lovely story…!
I think “all perfect” could be a wrong way to.learn somtimes..!
I have a simple question. It’s possible in my age learn a new language with natural way? I have already told that I learn 2 foreign languages with this way. But there was one very important condition. I was listening, speaking and imitating native speakers.
If it worked before, I say try it again!
Natural
I prefer natural, of course. 🙂
I prefere natural, too
Natural is the best, but reading and listening together can improve speaking, understanding,writing..
I prefer natural, to be different is beautiful.
There is no Important is natural or unnatural way for me .I want to realise my dream :To speak fluent and confident English
Natural is faster and easier, than unnatural mode.
And unnatural is unnatural!:)
Hi!
Ah… did someone say English is a monster? Nooo, it isn´t. Inglish is beautiful, I love it. I know I am at the beginning on my road. So what! I don´t care is it natural or unnatural. Everione finds own way. Important for me is not to lose desire. One day is all OK, another day not so good. But then comes evening and our dear dangerous Mr.Vig will send Vitamin V…and go on… tomorrow.
Of course natural, but it is difficult, when we ste blocked😔
I prefer natural way! I’m grateful to mr.Vig for this opportunity!🙏
Very intetesting and persuasive and absolutly true. Thank you for remembering.
I love these stories, very funny and very wise. I totally agree that your method is natural and great. I see huge progress in my English by listening to your stories. Thank you

Natural way is so pleasant. Who can refuse it?! :))
Excellent Mr.VIG! But for a new language you need a teacher
Mmm…Sounds convincing. But why not use in addition new skills that we acquired in the course of our lives?
I like to learn English with the natural way. We should be funny and patient without add boredom and stress
