Saturday morning…
I was teaching a free class online…
Explaining my Speed System to a group of curious students I’d never met before..
And of course, there were technical problems.
There are always technical problems.
I opened the wrong zoom room and started the class late…
Someone with a screaming kid kept unmuting himself…
The light in back of me was too strong and my face was too dark…
But despite all that, it was a great class!
A bunch of people from all over the world showed up.
And six signed up to try my Speed System with me for a month.
What a great way to spend a Saturday — MUCH better than golf!
An Interesting Comment
After the class I had time to read through the comments.
Here’s an interesting one I found:
“kindly teach english”
What does that mean?
What does he think I was teaching? German? Swahili? Spanglish?
But I think I do know what he meant.
He wanted a grammar lesson.
Or maybe a vocabulary lesson.
I used to do that.
Then I saw that doesn’t work.
There’s a difference between knowing how something works and being able to do it.
You can know the rules of tennis but be a very bad tennis player.
Teachers who “teach English” are very common.
They’re all over YouTube.
I call them “talking dictionaries” and “talking grammar books.”
Who wants that?
A lot of people, apparently.
Including my critic on Saturday.
But if you’ve tried that, and you want to try something different, either:
- You’re in one of my programs right now
- You’re about to sign up for this Saturday’s free class so you can find out all about it.
