Yesterday I told you I was under the weather.
Well, I’m still not feeling fit as a fiddle.
But I am feeling a tad bit better after my cat nap.
It’s a safe bet I’ll bounce back soon.
English Idioms
So many lovely English idioms.
Each idiom you add to the storage file in your brain makes your vocabulary richer…
Helps you understand conversation…
And makes you sound like you spent a summer lifeguarding at the Beverly Hills Hotel pool.
There’s just one problem….
Use It Or Lose It
Will you?
Will you actually remember these idioms?
And more importantly, will you actually use them?
Or will it be, In one ear and out the other?
That’s the problem with all these YouTube teachers.
If feels good to learn from them.
But information is not enough.
If you want to activate new words, you have to practice them.
That’s why I created Vig Village.
Vig Village is the perfect place for our last idiom of the day:
Use it or lose it.
In Swiss-German we say: fit as a sneaker 😉
Fits likė cotton wool for a dog” ( in lithuanian”😉
There are also the idioms OVER THE WEATHER and OVER THE DOG, I think it would be interesting…
Use it or lose it. It´s hard idiom. It depends on the need, what do you think? If we need some idiom and use it, repeat it will never forget. If we don´t need some idiom, we just don´t use it and it is forgotten. Good night.
There are many thoughts, many words. Some we understand, some we don’t. It is like a richly covered table. Some we taste, some we don’t. A break is coming. And then: comes a new thought, a new word, a new taste…
Fit as a fiddle and a tad bit, I like them, thx
I’ve been visiting this site for years, and it never fails to impress me with its fresh perspectives and wealth of knowledge. The attention to detail and commitment to quality is evident. This is a true asset for anyone seeking to learn and grow.
OMG how weird English idioms are. At the same time, very nice and fun! Since it’s not exactly everyday language, so…well… But some of them will definitely be remembered (I hope). Thanks!
Have you bounced back yet today?
Almost back to normal! The bouncing continues….
When I discovered the Vig School on the Internet, I thought: Finally something useful, but I can’t spare even ten minutes. Then I decided that if I could not find ten minutes for English, I would spend seven:)
And so I began, at first not every day, then every day, then fifteen minutes, then twenty.
Now, when I find some time, I don’t let the grass grow under my feet.
Thank you, Mr Vig, for continuing to teach and motivate us even when you are not in your usual standards!
That’s very motivating. Thanks for sharing!

Cheers
