This week we’re talking about the “F” word.
FEAR.
Yesterday, I told you it’s a common problem (less in Italy, more in the rest of the word)
Today…
The Second Thing You Must Know About Fear
Fear is an emotion.
It’s emotional.
You know that already.
But did you also know it’s mental and physical?
Let me explain.
You see, it starts with a thought.
In the jungle, that thought used to be, “Uh, oh. That tiger looks hungry. If he catches me that would be terrible.”
These days, the thought is, “Uh, oh. I have to speak English. If I make a mistake, that would be terrible.”
Next, your brain tells your adrenal gland (a small organ inside you), “Hey, we need more adrenaline!”
Adrenalin is good if you’re running from a tiger in the jungle.
Adrenaline is bad if you’re trying to remember the word for the thing your boss needed to be completed ten minutes ago.
And that’s how you feel the emotion fear!
Doesn’t that help?
When you define a problem… when you draw lines around it… when you get inside it and really understand it…
That gives you a feeling of power.
Power over your fear.
And that’s good.
