How was your weekend?
Mine was full, busy, fun and it all went by so fast.
About 20 Vig Village members met in Bucharest for the weekend.
We walked around town, we got a tour of the heaviest building in the world, we got a bus to Transylvania, we saw Dracula’s castle, we ate a lot, we drank a lot…
And of course, we spoke English all weekend.
Speaking all weekend is a big challenge.
And when members finish the weekend, they feel speaking is easier.
They also know more words.
I think it’s because it’s easier to remember words you learn in conversation.
Here’s an example…
BUT AND BUTT
Sunday evening we were standing outside a restaurant in the Old Town.
One of the smokers was looking around for a place to throw away her cigarette.
But not all of it.
Just the part that was left after she smoked it.
“What is this called?” she asked.
She looked at me for the answer.
I pointed to my rear-end.
“A butt?”
“Exactly,” I said.
Don’t you think that will be easy to remember?
Cheers,
Mr. Vig
P.S.
“But” is an Atomic Word.
Add one more “t” and you have a new word used in some very common expressions.
Let’s talk about both but and butt today!
Atomic Homework members, go here to listen to today’s lesson.
Not yet a member?
To the point thanks for the new word!
Hello Mr. Vig, what impression were you left with after this weekend spent in Romania?
Do you like my country!
