But a lot of native speakers get it wrong.
They say, “Happy Holidays.”
But I’m not celebrating holidays.
In fact, I don’t know anyone who is celebrating holidays this week.
People here in America are celebrating Christmas.
Christians are celebrating the holy day of Christmas.
And non-Christians are celebrating the non-religious Christmas.
But (almost) everyone celebrates Christmas.
That’s not so complicated, is it?

In Sweden there are municipalities and companies that forbid their staff to wish God Jul (Merry Christmas) They are forced to whish God helg ( happy weekend). They don’t even know that word Jul is a word for celebration that originates from pagan times. Long before we became Christians. I honor our ancestors and continue to wish you God Jul ( Merry Christmas).
