This is my last week home in Virginia.
Soon, I’ll be on the road again.
My first stop will be England.
So next week I’ll be learning British English and teaching you all the words you need to survive there.
But first…
A Funny Sign
One of my hobbies is swimming.
And when I’m home in the US, I like to go to the local rec center.
“Rec” is short for “recreation.”
And “recreation” is a long word for fun activities.
Personally, I would have just written “Pool.”
But the people who write signs never ask for my opinion.
Oh well.
And if you look carefully, you’ll notice that if you take a wrong turn, instead of going to the pool, you could end up at the wastewater plant.
That’s where the toilet water goes.
And the swimming pool and the toilet water are neighbors.
Ha!
Sounds like fun.
I hate this tendency of cutting the words. ‘Rec’ could also be abbreviation for …recording!
That’s right! I forgot about that…
