You’re lucky.
Did you know that?
No, you didn’t win the lottery.
You’re lucky because you’re living in modern times.
Despite what the news tells us, never before has the average person lived so long, had so much money, and been so healthy.
In my opinion, and in the opinion of your comments, the old days stank.
Which brings me to…
The #1 Thing I’d Miss About Modern Times
When I say, The old days stank, I mean they really stank.
As in, stink / stank / stunk…
As in, they smelled bad…
As in, P.U.!
I read once that the average European took one bath a year.
Gross!
Can you imagine standing next to that person at the weekly neighborhood witch burning?
I’m not a religious man, but I thank God for soap and showers and deodorant and washing machines and toothpaste and mouthwash and everything else that makes us smell like we just rolled through an Alpine field of daisies.
Hello Mr. Vig. I couldnt stand next to such a person. We are lucky to be alive at this time! I am grateful to God that i was born in a good country and have a good parents. And i can afford to buy whatever I want. But someone is unlucky and someone, just like in the old days, walks around and stinks.
Very healty time. Today we have 50.000 diagnoses of different diseases. 50 years ago, we have only 50 of them.
I think contemporary we have -too immaculately skin, houses, apartament. We use to agresive detergent…and we ofen sick for alergia
Napoleon used a couple of bottles of perfume for the same reason, to cover up the smells!!
We definitely have more freedom and more opportunities for development. We also have contemporary challenges, but they are quite different than the challenges people had in the past days.
Yes, we can be happy. But our proverb says: Everyone is the maker of his own luck.
You look a sincere person…
We are lucky because nowadays the average people live so long, have so much money, and be so healthy. In the past the average people take a shower once a year. We are thankfull for soap and showers , for washing maschines, toothpaste, mouthwash. Additional we communicate easily and faster with mobile phone. But the modern times the people are more stressfull and they get sick more than in the previous year
Here in Lithuania, we had the sauna and even country people went to bath at least every 1-2 weeks. So, we had less parfums.
It,s nice to live today, I know, I remember the time 50 years ago, life was harder but withous stress
Im one live in Africa the sud rising and the wither is too hot we take shower three times in day some times two if we were at wark also our religious lslam tolled adives us person must be clear we take pollution five time in aday
Vilnius? I’d like to be there too. My daughter has opening her exhibition tonight. Waiting to send us some photos. Yes, we are lucky. So many things we enjoy as self evident, a few decades the people did not even dream of them.
Once I was told that we – Europeans smell to the Japanese as the pigs while we eat to much pork.
There is a saying:” Don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater!” Do you know where it comes from?In England the family bathed once a year. The father started, followed by the boys, the girls, the mother and finally the baby. But by then the water was so black that the baby could hardly be seen.
I think it is right to be thankfully but in the same time trying to solve the problems that we still have.
Yes. it is better to watch movies about Oldest times on TV, but not to live in… because, for example, the famous Baroque left architecture and art as a heritage, but even noble people used straw instead of a Dormeo mattress and probably picked all kinds of animals from their wigs. Ha! Ha! And thank God I wasn’t born in the time of the Inquisition, I would have been burned for sure. I am most grateful to the New Times for the appearance of perfume, the washing machine and the dishwasher… Although sometimes I long for those times, due to people’s closer relationships with each other,
Hi! In the modern time we have many good and comfortable things, but the several deodorants and ,showers, washing etc. can be too much, or not? The human immunity will be weaker, or?
Hello,
welcome to Vilnius 🙂 how is our nice and old city 🙂
I don’t agree with you that people smell bad in old time 🙂
Now we are full of chemistry, drugs, antibiotics – so we smell bad because of this …
also, centuries ago – they had saunas and attended each weekend … not once a year 🙂
Have a nice stay in Vilnius 🙂
That’s something we often forget, I do really agree with you!
Sometime when I attend the old times movies I wish to live in the old times in the green fields with happy and unstresfulled people. But in movies everything is fantastic and the reality is probably stink. I agree to your prospective and I realize how much we are lucky living in modern times and we have the pleasant of the civilization goods as soap, bath we makes as to smell like flowers in field. Additionally the progress in sciences give to the modern people the ability to live longer with better conditions at least practically.
In these days we have a lot of good things unfortunately we have more stress and less time for ourselfs…. Sometimes I I think we are the salves of the modern age
I thank for and I love Bugatti Chiron and homemade soap from a very very very old and secret recipe from the ancient times (The secret ingredient is organic Bulgarian rose oil ☀️)
…
I am a woman who belives in spiritual life and I also belive that there is a God, it means something very superior, and I also belive that reincarnation exists, so it is possible that we surely already lived the old times, and we are in this present to enjoy modern life with wisdom and continue walking, reflecting on the part that is not beautiful of current modernity
HI Ryan ! Unfortunately we benefit fron a lot of stress and much less time for and our family.
Cheers,
Gabriel
I also thank God I live in modern times and enjoy all the innovative technology.
