Yesterday was Thanksgiving Day in America.
Thanksgiving is like Christmas, without the stress.
No presents. No church. And family is optional.
I like it a lot.
And for the second time in my life, I found myself celebrating in Turkey.
And if you have a sophisticated sense of humor like I do, then that’s funny because on Thanksgiving we eat turkey (the bird).
And I’m in Turkey (the country).
Get it?
Eat turkey…
I’m in Turkey…
Anyway, moving on…
Native-Speaker Expressions
There are a whole bunch of good ones on the blog.
Head over there and check ‘em out!
(Thanks to everyone who submitted!)
“Second to none.”
“Have a ball.”
And “Homebody.”
And one from South Africa: howzit (Instead of, How’s it going.)
That was a new one for me.
All good.
And I’ll add one I just heard last night.
I was on the phone / Skype with my family in the U.S.
My nephew got on the phone.
And after we finished chatting, he said “Catch ya later.”
Good one.
You have a great sense of humor. I love it.
Thanks!
