I just got my groceries for the week delivered.
It’s so easy!
You just press a few buttons online – and voila! – a few hours later a guy brings bags of food to your door!
Today’s delivery started off as usual.
He buzzed my apartment.
I told him which floor I lived on.
I buzzed him into the building.
I opened my door for him.
He placed the bags inside my apartment.
And that’s when he surprised me.
Up until now, the few words we had spoken had been in Czech.
I also told him “thank you” and “goodbye” in Czech.
But he told me, “Have a good one.”
Why is that surprising?
Because that’s exactly what a delivery guy in California or Oklahoma or Vermont would say.
Very friendly.
Very casual.
Try it!
Cheers,
Mr. Vig
P.S.
Did you notice that I used a French word?
“But this is an English lesson!”
Correct.
But there are a few French words native speakers use all the time.
And you should know them, too!

Hello Mr. Vig.
Since when have you lived in Czech Republic?
How many Czech words do you know besides “thank you”?
Regards 😊
I would like to do shopping oneline, but as a good friend of mine said and she doesn’t play foolish with me, they’re so expensive, I couldn’t afford!
