Spring Time!
All across the Northern Hemisphere…
Flowers are blooming.
Birds are singing.
The sun is shining.
And the world is turning green again.
Meanwhile, here in Prague…
A QUESTION ABOUT SPEAKING
Wednesday I taught training #2.
One student asked:
“Other people are improving faster than me.”
That’s an excellent question.
It shows a very common problem.
It’s a problem that’s much deeper than English or speaking.
I call it the “inner game.”
This is a metaphor from sports.
There’s the game you play on the course/field/court.
And then there’s the game you play in your head.
Often, the true champions are the masters of the inner game.
They keep their motivation, focus and positive energy on a high level at all times.
I see my English students have the same challenge.
And comparing yourself to others is a guaranteed way to lose this game.
No matter how fit you are, how rich you are, or how good your English is…
Somewhere, somebody… will be better than you.
Now how does that make you feel?
FINAL TRAINING THIS SATURDAY
This Saturday I’m teaching the third and final training in the Skill Stacking series.
The focus for this training will be speaking.
But don’t expect to learn a grammar rule or some phrasal verbs.
Instead, I’m going to teach you something you can actually use.
I’m going to share with you my favorite technique for staying calm and cool when it’s time to open your mouth and speak.
Because when you’re relaxed, you do everything better, including speaking.
Athletes use this technique during competition.
I used this technique when I was practicing public speaking.
And my students use this technique when they want to instantly improve their speaking.
Want to learn this secret, too?
I’d love to share it with you.
All you have to do is register for the free training this Saturday.
Cheers,
Mr. Vig
Dear Mr. Vig, greetings for the day!
Thank you kindly for all your efforts to teach everyone who whants to be tought.
In regards to one of the important situation which I would like to solve is that how to speak without translation from native language and don’t weist too much time to search or looking for some words in my mind to explaine or express thoughts?
Thank you in advance foy your comments and see you soon!
Kind regards,
Sergey
Hi Sergey, you’re welcome!
The translating habit is a common problem. It doesn’t go away immediately, but when you adopt a daily routine like I teach in School of Speaking, it does start to fade away. And you’re a member of SOS, so you’re on the right path!
Beautiful city Prague. Like to visit it.
Hello Mr Vig:) I’m Teresa from Cracow, not very far from Prague:) I’m retired since 2018 so I have a lot of free time. I enjoy learning English. It’s a great opportunity to have your lessons. When I was in school we had only a book and the book didn’t say anything,)
Now thanks to you and other fantastic teachers we can listen, learn and even speak in English. Thank you so much for your efforts in teaching us 🙂
Hi Teresa, you’re very welcome! Glad you’re here.
