A leaky faucet.
An empty bucket.
One drop of water goes into the bucket.
Then another
And another
Drop.
Drop.
Drop.
Not too exciting.
But you know how this story ends, right?
Eventually, the empty bucket becomes a full bucket
I remember when I first arrived in Prague.
I was so excited to be here.
Immediately, I started to learn Czech words.
Lots and lots and lots and….
Then I stopped.
Then I started.
Then I stopped.
I wish I had been like the drops of water.
My bucket would be full by now.
In other words , we have to : practice, practice, practice !
Thank you Ryan !
Cheers,
Gabriel
Hi, MrVig! It is a expressiv metaphor, a leaky faucet, an empty bucket, and drop, drop, drop of water to: how we a foreign language learn and then use, step by step better. Thanks!
But the brain isn’t a bucket, right? That’s why the person needs to keep the inspiration and motivation to study foreign languages.
….learn but a little bit every day….daily routine and habits, as Mr Vig teach us, right?
Thanks for your great advices! Thanks a lot!
This is a very convincing example! Thank you, Mr. Vig!
Excellent example. In Serbian, we say “grain by grain, the bread; stone by stone, the palace”. But we must work EVERY DAY. And it is not easy.
If I understood corect, you stopted any time. For me is intersting what is the reason when we stop! Is it when water is running too much already?🤔
My bucket stiil not full 🙁
Deep thought, great truth. Thank you Ryan. Our buckets are full right now. Cheers!
Hi!
So witty! Ryan, you wrote your Czech, but may I ask how your French and Latin buckets are for today?
Have a good one!
Good morning,I am like the bucket.:) But it get very slowly. I hope, that I will learn one time everything.
Yes,words…words…words…daily!!!
Thanks Mr Vig
Muy bucket is full and needs to move everything. Thanks!
You have great advice for us. I enjoy reading your stories. Your stories are written so simply and fully understanding. You inspire me every day to learn some new words. Thank you very much.
OK , nice expression , but what if the bucket is leaky ?
Like me : started -stoped , started- stoped . I like your example of empty – full bucket. Drop by drop .. fuul bucket
Simple. Very encouraging. I took time to study. I wrote my story.
– I wanted to know what English healing water is like.
– With an empty bucket I went to Mr. Vig, famous far and wide for its excellent English water.
He recommends drinking it drop by drop.
– Water works slowly but very effectively. I see a lot of it draining from my body as well. I am patient, because health is not an overnight process. Every therapy takes its time.
– I look at the bucket and look forward to the time when I can drink in sips.
– Note: If necessary, I call first aid – Google translate.
Cheers! Branko
Could something important also have happened in these moments of suspension?
I find it interesting to learn drop with drop! Thanks
It is very interesting your story Mr. Vig. There is a saying: A bead with a bead is made a dress! One day I hope to be full of my buchet! Repetition is the mother of knowledge! Correct me please if I have made mistakes. Thanks a lot! See you soon!
