Here’s a common story…
Parents move to America.
Their children are young.
No one speaks English.
But a few years later, the kids are fluent and the adults are struggling (translation: it’s still not easy)
Why?
Most people will shrug their shoulders and say, “Kids just learn fast.”
True.
But why?
If the children used the same methods as the parents to learn English…
If the children had the same beliefs as the parents…
If the children had the same goals as the parents…
Then we could be scientific and say, “Kids are different.”
But there are so many difference between the parents and the children.
It’s not a fair comparison.
Or, as we say in English, we’re comparing apples to oranges.
I say the difference is between natural and unnatural.
I’ll explain what that means….
Tomorrow!
Thank you. You described my family’s situation
I am impatient to understand what that means + what is the result of the story. Tomorrow.
Children learn English faster than the adults because they learn by imitation without thinking if is correctly.or not; they are confident and want to comunicate not to perform, finaly they learn as the native speakers while parents learn as the students…!
My son learned English in less than six months by himself, just playing video games and watching YouTube videos. He speaks fluently with native speakers without thinking. I feel shame because I can’t. He is 11 years old.
The childrens’s brain is fresher and are learning during in the playing:)
Children learn English faster because they take it in the form of play, something natural, they want to communicate to play and I think they have a sharper mind than their parents
I would like use the children´s metod and become more confident.
yes, children learn faster, because children have more time. But I feel shame too, like Alessandra , because my son and daughter speak English fluently.
I think that it s true because young people have open mind and more attitude to lesen thing: languages or jobs
I am curious to learn what you mean tomorrow
I completely agree with Silvia. People of an active age usually learn the language in a slightly stressful situation. They realize that the faster they learn the language, the easier it will be to achieve their goals for learning it, for example, to provide a wellfare for their children. This stresses them out and consequently they learn more slowly. That’s why your language school, Mr Vig, is so successful – through fun to faster progress.
Children are at the right age for language learning…
Yes, my parents tollks all the years heedes, and I never tollk with tham befor in heedes, so when I marred my mother in l law tallks onley in heedes, so I must to tollk whth her only in heedes and all what I have heard a lot of years camming to me.
Memory in children is bettr. Their mind is open, clear and receptive.
I think that children, when they learn, have a better memory, and that’s why they remember everything better and for a long time, but when an adult learns, he no longer has such a memory. I know this for myself. When I was at school, I learned easily, but now that I’m learning English, I have to repeat everything several times to remember it. I want to learn English so much, but it’s slow.
I think, that when childrens grow up, they understand Very good all, but after rules are comming and slow everything Down.
I hope, U explain it…, thankU🤗
I’m curios to Know the way !
I read but how can I hear the pronunciation ?
My children learned Germani by watcing TV.
