I’m back home in Prague.
My travels are over.
(For now.)
But I’ve still got more stories to tell!
THE STORY OF THE SECRET RESTAURANT
I love Vietnamese food.
But it was my birthday and I felt like a Western breakfast.
Eggs. Toast. Bacon. Et cetera.
I found a place on Google Maps.
The menu had exactly what I was looking for.
So I set off through the chaotic streets of Hanoi.
And after a few minutes, Google told me I had found the street.
“And look! There’s a restaurant.”
I sat down.
Ordered a coffee.
And opened the menu.
“Where’s the breakfast?”
I summoned over the proprietor.
“No breakfast,” she said.
Oh, was I mad!
I had fallen for their breakfast scam!
They had lied to Senior Google just to get my American dollars!
And on my birthday!
Those bastards!
Anyway, long story short, I was in the wrong restaurant.
But can you blame me?
Here’s what I saw on the street:

Where would you go?
To the place on the left that looks like a restaurant?
Wrong!
Do you see the dark alley to the right of the K-Mart?
That’s where the breakfast restaurant was.
Here’s what I saw when I entered the alley:

I got my breakfast.
It wasn’t half bad.
My mood lifted.
And… something else interesting happened inside restaurant #2.
Which I’ll tell you – tomorrow!

This breakfast adventure in Vietnam was very interesting, and the transfer back from the UK airport was James Bond-esque. Belated birthday wishes for health and happiness, Mr. Vig. 🙂
