I’ve been an English teacher for 20 years!
What have I learned?
A lot!
And this month, I’m going to share with you my best lessons.
Hopefully, they’ll make you smile; and hopefully they’ll improve your English.
Then, I’ll invite you to try a new course I’m busy making.
It’s my anniversary, but you’ll get the gift – a new course with a special celebration price.
Let’s go!
Lesson #2
Years ago, when I was a private teacher, I had two types of students.
Type One I met at his or her office.
These students often came late, answered their phones during the lesson, left early, and rarely did their homework.
Type Two came to my apartment.
These were the good students.
They rarely canceled, arrived on time, had a good attitude, did their homework, and most importantly, they made progress!
What was the difference?
It wasn’t the location.
It was who paid for the lesson.
Type One sent me an invoice from their company.
Type Two took out his wallet at the end of the lesson and handed over cash.
In other words, when you pay you pay attention.
Isn’t that interesting….
Interesting. Time and energy are also like money. You pay attention. Have a nice evening.
HI Ryan !
Nothing is free !
When you want something you have to pay.
Cheers
Gabriel.
Hi that is right and i want to add an other important thing is after five or six lesson for the review the student should pass an exam in my idea it make active the student.
I totally agree. As a former teacher, I noticed that students who learn the language at school for free progress much more slowly than those who attend paid courses. But if a course is expensive, they won’t sign up. So they looked at the value for money.
In my opinion it isn’t a question of money but of motivation. If you are motivated you will make progress, regardless of who pays for the course.
that’s true.
Hi and Happy anniversary!
Well, maybe that is usual habbit for most students but it’s not rule, I think.
If someone dont want to learn, nobody can pay to force him to learn.
It is obligation when you pay from your pocket but it isn’t only motivation.
It is also for gym, aerobics and others studies. Different people different habbits. Responsible people with strong motivation usually react, study, work, exercise the same if they pay or not, maybe company or someone else pay.
I like to have that obligation but I knew also people who pay for something and still dont go, dont learn, dont exercise.
Motivation for something, in my opinion, is also how interesting and attention-grabbing it is.
Interesting lessons, exercises, subjects, communications more pay attention.
Have a great weekend, too!
Everything depends on our wish, not on company’s wallet😊 it reflected in the result!
Hi ! I agree with you If you pay for learning it’s because you need it and you’re motivated and you expect results because you have a purpose
To have a goal and being focused on what has bin chosen to be done brings success.
Who is paying school/ course very often make a difference how serious we take our obligation what is shown in your story.
I look forward to the new course you wrote about.
Smiley! This is common rule in economy. There are many people who wish to do something. But just a few are ready to pay.
It’s true! When you work hard for earning money, you pay more attention in what you do spending the money you earned
That is correct. I have a great observation that I often tell others and myself: The more you invest in someone or something, the more importance you give to it. The more you think that person is worth more. You work harder for something you pay for. However, that’s just the brain and it’s programmed that way. Your course is excellent and helped me a lot.
You can learn a.lot by teaching.
You can learn a lot by this expression ” when you pay you pay attention”…, especially when you are in time!
And I think the opposite is also true!
I think motivation is the most important thing. Where paying sometimes increases the commitment but only because no one wants to spend uselessly. However I think that those who really want to learn, know how to take every opportunity and especially the free ones
That was wisely said. Thank you. Have a good day!
You’re welcome!
HI,you are completly right ,I have like expriance.
I agree, that when you pay, you pay attention. A person doesn’t appreciate what comes to him without effort
