New things.
Different things.
That’s why I travel.
Well, today I really saw something new.
In fact, I had never seen it even once in the six weeks I’ve been here…
Why You Read
Why do I write Vitamin V?
Why don’t I just give you a grammar rule like every other teacher?
Because rules are boring and confusing, and we forget boring and confusing.
But stories are interesting and you learn words and correct English when you’re interested.
Now back to our story….
Just Like Home
What surprising thing did I see on the street today?
A beggar!
I’ve been all over Chiang Mai… I’ve been on two islands… I’ve been in the jungle…I even got lost once in Bangkok and wandered through a slum…
But not even once did someone ask me for money.
Until today.
Now here’s where it gets really interesting.
The beggar was a white guy from Wisconsin!
He wanted 20 Baht (not even one Euro) for… I don’t remember.
But I gave it to him.
Should I have?
What if he posts a photo on Instagram with my 20 Baht?
And all his homeless friends from Wisconsin see the good, easy life he’s leading here?
And they decide to join him in Thailand?
And Thailand becomes just like San Francisco!
It’ll all be my fault.
Woops.
I don’t now hau expensive is to trevel from Wisconsin to Thailand but I suppose it’s too expensive for eny homeless. Unfortunately.
Good … 😉👍
Yes, it is good when we think about the consequences of our actions.
Choices again. To beg or to donate? And still I´ve been thinking… if you can handle sitting here in front of a large crowd with your hands in front of you… you are an actor, you should play on stage.
Hi Ryan,
You cannot just give us grammar rules because you didn’t act as a teacher but as a friend who write letters for us, we have a friendly conversation, at least for the beginning.
It’s nice to you to help a poor person without asking questions or judging him; never you know all the problems in the world!
Hi Ryan ! Usually , beggars are made to do this by other people, but there are also some who really do not have a living.
So,if you give to the beggar some money, you are doing nothing, but helping him.
My opinion : If You can, DO IT !!!
Not your fault. You helped a man. Poor and miserable. There is zero chance that another guy from Wisconsin will see a photo of 20 Baht and will come for this.
Needs, help, education, God’s Love. Have a beautiful day.
Good decision, Rayen 🙂
Yes, it is good when we think about the consequences of our actions. Hawe a beautiful day.
I think it’s good to help to someone when he need it
Hi Mr Vig
No, I don’t think you were wrong!
I don’t judge beggars. The fact that they ended up in this humiliating and dehumanizing situation makes me sad! And I empathize and feel a little guilty and sad for them.
Generally speaking. And then, I help them for that moment.
I read about San Francisco. I believe that society must solve the problem of poverty, drugs, crime… But these are problems of the times we live in!!
Have a good day!
Yeah! Begging is the business for many people. We know this, but we sometimes give the money to unknown persons.
Its not your fault. The beggar from Wisconsin likes the easy life
🙂
Thank You for Your interesting living stories.
Sometimes the beggars may not be real. But helping is good especially when we are convinced to help. You were. 🙂
