Keystone.
That’s the word of the week.
It’s the most important stone in an arch.
It’s a often used as a metaphor.
And this week, we’re talking about the keystone for your success with English.
But like a priority, there can only be one…
Here we go!
Is This The Keystone For Your Engish?
Steve Kaufman from YouTube says there are only three things that can make you fluent in a foreign language.
The first, he says, is time.
And I agree.
If you spend more time than someone else, you’ll probably make faster progress.
But is it the keystone?
Here’s the test:
Can you spend a lot of time with English and never become fluent?
I think you can.
I remember, years ago, talking to a shop owner in China Town, San Francisco, and he told me his mother, who was born in California and spent her whole life surrounded by English, still didn’t speak. Wow.
And what about if you spend no time?
Well, that would make it difficult to make progress.
But you can certainly spend a little time and reach your goals.
Super-polyglot Richard Burton learned 29 languages and never spent more than 15 minutes studying without a break.
So I say, while time is important, it’s not the keystone.
What Do You Think?
Do you know what the keystone for success with English is?
A lot of readers have already given their opinion on the blog — thanks!

And we’ll continue this conversation…
Tomorrow!
I think that the keystone is the confidence
Doing English daily…Daily habit is the keystone.
My opinion-less studying, more using.
The keystone is to enjoy the process of learning and stay consistent.
Hi! The keystone for my success with English it’s desire to prove myself that I can do it.
Daily practice
in my opinion, however much you have spent studying you should have understood as much.
think in English
consistent daily learning and speaking, daily habit
Maybe the keystone is talking with English speaking people, even making some mistakes
As more as possible to talk, read, hear (films, songs, etr.)
Keystone to speak is to speak
Firstly I was thinking about method.
But perhaps it is ENJOYING
If you enjoy English, you will spend time, you will remain faithfull, you will make a progress.
The keystone for total😊 improvement is getting a job where the language for official communication would be the English.
The job should be an accelerating tool for success in English!
Daily speaking which bring you to the level you start think in English !
I think, that the keystone is opportunity talk with someone . Desire that you understand me give a motivation.
The keystone is to enjoy practice English every day
Being exposed to English every day in any possible way!
Reading papers/books, listening to music, watching movies …. whatever!
I also think that daily habit – is the keystone – daily learning and speaking.
I think the keystone is assiduity. but what means ”…and he told me his mother,.. ”?
I think that the keystone is daily practice and think in English.
Hi! I think keystone is patient daily work full of joy and courage to speak English despite mistakes.
Thanks! A good motivation.
I have a good story about learning English. I was start to learn when I had 5 years old. I have 34 years old now. I’m not speak fluently. Why?…
Maybe because I have never native speaker. I learn English only in my country. Many teachers, a lot lessons and now I have a big block, that I cannot speaking English.
Listening is the keystone.
I think Keystone is right , but we need two more things with spent time. One we have to be attention about our learning, the second we ought to learning by interesting.
The keystone is, in my opinion, continuity
I think that the keystone for every student is motivation – if it’s high and goes up, the success will be great.
