Did you ever see or read “The Shinning?”
The book was by Stephen King.
The movie was by Stanley Kubrick.
It’s about a guy who lives in an empty hotel full of ghosts.
Why do I mention it?
Because I’m also living in an empty hotel.
Bansko is a ski town.
And when the skiers leave, the hotels and restaurants close their doors.
A younger Mr. Vig would have said, “This is lame.” (translation: boring, not cool)
An older and wiser Mr. Vig says, “I like the quiet.”
I can focus, think, get a lot of work done, and enjoy the lovely mountain views.
It’s perfect.
Even the ghosts are quiet.
A Non-Perfectionist Comes To Visit My Hotel
Today the grocery delivery guy rang my phone.
If you remember, I broke my leg skiing.
So for two months, I survive with the help of taxis and delivery guys.
“I can’t get inside your hotel. The doors are….” said the delivery guy calling my phone.
Then there was a pause.
I knew he wanted to say “locked.”
I also knew he couldn’t find the word.
But like a good teacher, I didn’t help him.
Then he changed his sentence.
“The doors won’t open.”
Good enough!
No time to worry about being perfect when you’ve got a job to do.
The door does not work.
To make mistakes… is normal!
When one door clouses, then other one opens.
It is a powerful lesson today, Ryan! Thanks a lot!
Open the door and let me in!😊
Can somebody open them?
to change sentences helped me lots in many situation when I couldn´t find suit word. Good advise!
The doors are closed 🤔🤔
In my opinion, confidence is very important for language speakers so it is not necessary to have a really wide vocabulary to try to speak. The lost word from the brain could be explained in another way.
Strange, feeling to live in an empty hotel but im sure you will recovery and also i know is time for you to learn, to think and to plan. For exemple you could trying to paint the beautiful mountain you see on your window and overcome the moment.
All the best!

Why not to help in this situation? Why not to say: Is the door locked?
Hmm, I could have done that. But I was also on my teaching break…
Good advise. You help us a lot to train our brain and escape from difficult situation
Great! Successful recovery!
You are the best! 🙂 Our best teacher! 🙂
Nice
The door is opening
But you are a good teacher.
I loved this example. Thank you.
Good idea, the boy must train his brain… – but this way use use the techers
